Tewodros Mengistu, Esq. (Teddy), is a member of the Florida Bar and licensed to practice law in all the courts of the State of Florida. He is admitted to practice immigration law in all Immigration Courts in the U.S, including the Board of Immigration Appeals, Federal and appellate courts in immigration related matters and all U.S immigration Offices. He is also an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the American Bar Association Young Lawyers’ Division (ABAYLD).
Mr. Mengistu, originally from Ethiopia, holds an advanced law degree, Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law with an emphasis in International Business Law, from Stetson University College of Law and graduated with Honors. He is a proud double hatter of Stetson University College of Law as he graduated with Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Stetson. He also earned Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Harmaya University School of Law. While at Stetson, he was selected to participate in Immigration Law Clinic at Gulfcoast Legal Services in Bradenton and St. Petersburg, where he helped clients obtain the Visas, Legal Permanent Residence (LPR) (Green Cards) and United States Citizenship. Mr. Mengistu also clerked for an Immigration Law Firm in St. Petersburg where he has acquired a great deal of experience in handling different types of immigration cases. Prior to joining Bassey Immigration Law Firm, PA, Mr. Mengistu clerked for a Law Firm in Palm Harbor, and worked as a part time Associate for a Law Firm in Tampa.
Mr. Mengistu is a very passionate immigration attorney who enjoys spending time talking to clients and understands their ultimate goals and helps his clients navigate the complex immigration law to attain their goals and objectives. He has successfully represented clients at the USCIS on matters related to Adjustment of Status(AOS) and Citizenship. He also has successfully represented clients at Immigration Courts on Bond Hearings, Asylum and Withholding of Removal, Cancelation of Removal and other various immigration matters. As an immigrant himself, he realizes how a person’s life changes after one becomes a lawful permanent resident or a U.S citizen and works tirelessly to protect his clients’ rights and bring the desired result for his clients.
